I confess I am not majorally fond of poetry (or folk music). But I just listened to BBC radio 4 this morning, and heard Connor share his story of over coming rock bottom, and getting a second chance. At a young age he lost his way but with love, strength of his mother, family, teachers and friends he found his way back.

Connor finished by reading his beautiful poem
Knock, knock
I wonder
What’s behind this door?
I hope it’s not remnants of a time before.
Times that moved so fast
And fragments of the past
That’s rooted in pain
Histories of Shame
when I travel down memory lane.
Imagine
If behind this door
There’s potential
Not purpose
And that’s what’s essential.
Because
Each and every one of us has magic
Contained within us
To hope and dream of a better future is a must.
Turn the handle
unlock the door and travel through
and look upon
all the different variations of you.
Strength
Dreams
Creativity
and more
Are all waiting for you
behind the door.
